Overview:
This one-hour program enables participants to gain an understanding of the use of different living walls systems both indoors and out, and in various climates. Attendees will discover the design considerations and positive effects of living walls on the built environment; and, explore case studies of a variety of living walls systems and their performance after installation, evidence based research citations, and compelling photography and time-lapse videos.
Learning Objectives:1. Master various project design criteria for architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and horticultural considerations and costs.
2. Discover features, advantages, differences and challenges about various living walls (also known as greenwalls) systems.
3. Understand the importance of maintenance and the ongoing cost associated with keeping plants alive in a living walls installation.
4. Comprehend best practices of presented project case studies.
How Taught:
GPGB Registered Trainers utilize a PowerPoint presentation and a script, which gives an overview of the specific design criteria for architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and horticultural considerations and costs for living walls. We will review cost issues of installing and maintaining these living walls, and discuss specific examples of various living wall challenges and solutions. The program will conclude with a question and answer session.
Qualifications:
All GPGB Registered Trainers have been trained on CES guidelines and presentation skills. In addition, they receive continuous in-depth training on every aspect of green design considerations as they relate to these live plant installations.
